Playing Frankenstein - Experiment 4 - Conclusion

Well here's Susan, a week late. Apologies for that.

The game's resurrection has turned out to be a bit of a non-event, so I'm going to put it on hold. Maybe it'll work better once I get some more activity on the blog. In the meantime I'll continue to post random bits and pieces, hopefully on a fairly regular basis. In the last couple of weeks I've spent most of my time editing, so haven't been drawing much.

She lies in poison ivy.
Luckily, she's a metallic robot.
Several fey massage her.

Playing Frankenstein - Experiment 3 - Conclusion

I was a little disappointed that there were only three entries for Betty, but they're good ones, and I realised that any more may have simply spoiled her. And I think Betty has turned out to be one of the best so far, as well as one of my favorites (many thanks to Cynthia, Nathan and Asclepius). Plus obviously it's easier to account for fewer entries when it comes time to draw ;)

The intention has been to do one of these a week, and now that I've done a few I've noticed a certain trend: most of the entries are submitted in the first day or two after I post TK's line. So there's no point in waiting much longer to see if any others pop up. In light of that, here's my new plan: start a new character each Monday, close submissions the following Friday, then post the drawing on Sunday.

Also, I've added some coding so that I can reply to comments (still can't believe Blogger doesn't allow that by default), but I don't think anyone actually gets notifications of those. So if you leave a comment, check it next time you visit, because I always try my best to reply. I figure that's the least I can do to show my appreciation for your support :)

Now, without further ado, here's Betty.

She has red bat wings.
She wears a leaf bikini.
She holds a flaming skull.

050511

This is what I tend to draw whenever I need to switch off and just draw for the sake of drawing. I probably spend about an hour on each one, although much of that is just tweaking and refining. I guess I find it therapeutic. Lately I've been drawing them whilst listening to SModcasts (be warned, they're a bit, nay, very rude), which probably makes the exercise extra therapeutic, since my conscious mind is distracted from all the shit I don't want to be thinking about.

Occasionally there's talk of mushrooms in these drawings. No particular reason, other than I like mushrooms, and they're fun to draw. And no, they're not of the magic variety. Unless you want them to be. In your own mind they can be whatever you want them to be.

There are still a couple of slots available for Playing Frankenstein 3 if anyone wants to add their creative stamp to our collective nonsense.

Game of Kings

For about a year now I've been involved in the Game of Kings project. GoK brings together a collection of artists based in Australia and the UK to illustrate characters and stories based on the game of chess.

In order to help promote the project, and the launch of phase 2, the group is holding an all mediums competition open to anyone.

Other than the above teaser, I can't show any of my GoK work yet, as it hasn't been officially released. But there's already a ton of top notch work on the various sites dedicated to the project.
